DECOR
DIRECT ANNOUNCES DONATION TO HUMANE SOCIETY OF SARASOTA COUNTY
Sarasota, Florida
— Decor Direct, an importer of handcrafted furniture and accessories
headquartered in Sarasota, Florida, is pleased to announce its charitable
gift donated to the Humane Society of Sarasota County (HSSC) in June 2004
for their Fourth Annual Adoptathon.
HSSC’s
Mission Statement is, “To prevent cruelty, suffering and
overpopulation of animals through education, housing and financial
support.” The
organization provides adoption and fostering programs, a lost and found
program, various education and community outreach programs, and takes in
nearly 4000 unwanted homeless animals each year.
This year’s Adoptathon featured an “Old Tyme Country Fair”
held on Saturday, June 12th. The event featured food, games,
live music and a giant raffle, as well as the focus of the event: to find
homes for every homeless animal.
To help in HSSC’s
goal, Decor Direct donated several items valued at over $200 for the
raffle, including handcarved animal statues and pet-themed business card
holders. Proceeds from the raffle will be used to care for the animals at
HSSC.
Celeste Gruenstein,
Decor Direct’s Manager, finds the donation to HSSC particularly
gratifying because Decor Direct’s mascot, Petey, was adopted from HSSC.
“It’s important to support local organizations like the Humane Society
– not only because they take in unwanted and homeless animals, but also
because they strive to educate our community through their many
animal-related programs.”
In
addition to being a winner of the 2002 Young Business of the Year Award by
Sarasota Chamber of Commerce, Decor Direct has also received other
accolades, including the “Best of Show” award from the local American
Society of Interior Designers.
